What's new

The GWM Haval H7 will reach German dealers in November 2026, and the manufacturer has now confirmed prices and powertrain versions for its new angular SUV. The model combines a five-seat family layout with hybrid technology and off-road ambitions. H7 extends GWM's SUV range upwards, sitting above the smaller Haval Jolion Pro and Haval H6 Hybrid.

The exterior has a deliberately rugged look, with a touch of Land Rover Defender and Ford Bronco, but the key news concerns the German market launch. The car is 4.80 metres long, has a five-seat cabin and is described with extensive standard equipment. Unlike the brand's more conventional SUV offerings, H7 is intended to work beyond paved roads as well.

  • Market launch: full hybrid in November 2026.
  • Further versions: turbo petrol and plug-in hybrid in December 2026.
  • Trim lines: Premium and Luxury.
  • Cabin layout: five seats.

Specifications and technology

The entry version uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It produces 215 hp and 380 Nm, with a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission handling gear changes. Buyers can choose front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and the AWD petrol version is rated to tow up to 2.3 tonnes.

The full hybrid combines a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with an electric motor. Total system output is 247 hp, and the car does not need to be plugged in. GWM quotes fuel consumption of 6.5 litres per 100 km, compared with 9.0 or 9.6 litres per 100 km for the petrol model, depending on drivetrain.

Plug-in hybrid and off-road hardware

The front-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid is rated at 326 hp and uses a 33.8 kWh battery. Electric range is quoted at up to 150 km, while DC fast charging is possible at up to 90 kW. With an empty battery, GWM gives a fuel consumption figure of 6.7 litres per 100 km.

The most powerful plug-in hybrid version adds all-wheel drive. It combines a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with two electric motors for 435 hp and 670 Nm. The Hi4 all-wheel-drive system is being offered by GWM in Europe for the first time and distributes power between the front and rear axles as required.

The Haval H7 also carries several numbers aimed at off-road use. Up to nine driving modes are listed, maximum ground clearance is 210 mm, and wading depth is 580 mm. The all-wheel-drive petrol and plug-in hybrid versions also receive an electronically controlled rear locking differential.

Markets, prices and availability

The German entry price is 35,990 euros for the 2.0-litre turbo petrol model. The full hybrid starts at 37,990 euros, while the front-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid begins at 41,990 euros. GWM has not yet announced a price for the all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid.

The rollout is split across two months. The full hybrid reaches German dealers first, in November 2026. The turbo petrol and plug-in hybrid versions follow in December 2026.

Equipment and warranty

GWM will offer Premium and Luxury equipment lines, both described as extensively equipped from the factory. The cockpit includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument display and a central 15.6-inch touchscreen. The infotainment runs the company's Coffee OS operating system.

Practical outdoor extras are mentioned alongside the five-seat cabin. Warranty coverage is seven years or 150,000 km for the vehicle. The high-voltage battery is covered for eight years or 160,000 km.

Other Chinese models are mentioned around the same market space: the BAW 212 with traditional off-road hardware, the BYD Shark combining pick-up usability with a strong plug-in hybrid system, and the GWM Tank 300 from the same group. H7 is presented not as a direct copy of one of them, but as a mix of family SUV, hybrid drivetrains and off-road capability.

Verdict

The GWM Haval H7 enters Germany with a broad powertrain range, from petrol to a powerful AWD plug-in hybrid. The key numbers are 4.80 metres of length, up to 435 hp, up to 150 km of electric driving and a starting price of 35,990 euros, which clearly defines its positioning.
