What's new

The Xpeng G9L will come to Europe as a large five-seat SUV offered both as a battery-electric model and as an EREV hybrid, with its European debut scheduled for the Paris Motor Show from 12 to 18 October 2026. It is described as the brand's new flagship for the region. The model is planned for 64 markets, including Europe.

The key European detail is production. The G9L will be built not only in China but also at Magna's plant in Graz, Austria. For Europe, partially assembled kits are planned rather than fully finished imported cars, a move intended to reduce the effect of additional duties on electric cars brought from China into the European Union.

Xpeng's cooperation with Magna began in September 2025. The G6, G9 and P7+ are already produced in Graz, and the G9L will join them as another Xpeng model assembled in Austria. The contract also matters for the Graz plant after lower production volumes in recent years and after losing some earlier projects, including Jaguar I-Pace production.

The manufacturer presents the G9L as a global model. Camouflaged prototypes were tested for three years on every continent, covering more than 6.74 million km in total. The SUV also went through 192 crash tests under four protocols: Euro NCAP, ANCAP, C-NCAP and CIASI.

Specifications and technology

The G9L body measures 5120 mm in length, 1999 mm in width and 1782 mm in height. Its wheelbase is 3100 mm, and the cabin is configured exclusively for five seats. Boot capacity is 1152 litres, with an additional 230-litre storage compartment under the floor.

The drag coefficient is 0.238. The electric version will be offered in several configurations, including a rear-wheel-drive model and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant. Xpeng also lists two battery capacities for the EV versions: 91.9 kWh and 110 kWh.

Powertrains and range

The rear-wheel-drive version produces 270 kW, equal to 362 hp. The stronger dual-motor all-wheel-drive model delivers 430 kW, or 577 hp. Under the Chinese CLTC cycle, the electric G9L is rated at 660 to 755 km, although European WLTP figures will be lower after local homologation.

The alternative to the pure EV will be the EREV version. It uses a 63.3 kWh battery, all-wheel drive and is said to cover up to 435 km on electric power alone. Its 1.5-litre petrol engine does not drive the wheels directly, instead generating electricity for the drive system.

  • rear-wheel-drive electric version: 270 kW, 362 hp;
  • dual-motor AWD electric version: 430 kW, 577 hp;
  • EV batteries: 91.9 kWh or 110 kWh;
  • EREV version: 63.3 kWh battery, AWD, 370 kW system output;
  • CLTC range: 660-755 km for EV versions and up to 1602 km in total for the EREV.

Xpeng also claims very fast charging. According to the manufacturer, 9 minutes of charging can add energy for about 450 km of driving. In the EREV, the 60-litre fuel tank and the battery are said to provide a total range of up to 1602 km.

Software is also central to the technical package. The G9L uses the VLA 2.0 driver assistance system and the Turing system, which Xpeng also applies in its IRON humanoid robot. During the debut, Xpeng chairman He Xiaopeng also spoke about an automated production line for humanoid robots and about a shared artificial-intelligence base for cars and robots.

Markets, prices and availability

The European premiere of the G9L will take place at the Paris Motor Show, which starts on 12 October 2026 and runs until 18 October. Xpeng is expected to show the European version of the large SUV in Paris. Detailed technical data and prices for Europe should be announced there.

In China, the G9L list price starts at 241,800 yuan, with a promotional price from 231,800 yuan. That equals about 34,000 dollars. The European price has not yet been announced, and the Chinese figure cannot be converted directly because transport, taxes, margins and European-market requirements will affect the final amount.

Europe and Poland

Xpeng is already present in Poland, where the brand officially entered the market in April 2025. Import and distribution are handled by Inchcape. At the beginning of 2026, the network consisted of five showrooms: Warsaw, Poznań, Bydgoszcz, Gdańsk and Katowice.

The current Polish range includes the G6, P7, P7+ and G9. Prices start at 194,900 zł for the G6, 216,900 zł for the P7, 197,900 zł for the P7+ and 252,900 zł for the G9. Xpeng has also announced the X9 van for Poland, and the G9L is expected to become another model added to the range.

  • planned market reach for the G9L: 64 markets, including Europe;
  • production: China and Magna's plant in Graz, Austria;
  • European debut: Paris Motor Show 2026;
  • China price: from 241,800 yuan list and from 231,800 yuan in promotion;
  • Xpeng's Polish network in early 2026: Warsaw, PoznaÅ„, Bydgoszcz, GdaÅ„sk and Katowice.

Verdict

The Xpeng G9L combines a large body, two drivetrain types and planned Austrian assembly, all of which matter for its European positioning. Figures such as 577 hp, a battery of up to 110 kWh and up to 755 km under CLTC show that Xpeng is entering Europe with a model placed above much of its current range. The final assessment will depend on the Paris presentation, where European pricing and specification are expected.
