Skoda Kodiaq

Technical details
Body:
SUV
Fuel:
Plug-in Hybrid

Technical description:

Model: Kodiaq
Body type: SUV
Power: 200 kW/272 hp
Battery: 19.7 kWh net
WLTP range: 100 km for the previous version according to the standard
DC charging: up to 50 kW
Price: around 50,000 euros, not confirmed by the manufacturer

What's new

The Skoda Kodiaq is gaining a stronger plug-in hybrid powertrain with a system output of 200 kW/272 hp. That is a clear increase over the previous version, which delivered 50 kW/68 hp less. The update applies to the Czech brand's flagship SUV and covers both the drivetrain and the equipment range.

The new variant combines a turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor. Skoda says the added system output comes from revisions to the combustion engine and the drive control. The result is a Kodiaq PHEV that keeps its familiar SUV role while moving to a noticeably more powerful setup than before.

At the same time, the range is being expanded with the new Laurin & Klement top trim. This version focuses on richer equipment and additional comfort features. It is set apart by exterior details, dedicated alloy wheels and seats with a massage function.

  • a new plug-in hybrid drivetrain with 200 kW/272 hp,
  • a power increase of 50 kW/68 hp over the previous variant,
  • a new Laurin & Klement top equipment line,
  • the Laurin & Klement line can be combined with different engines.

Specifications and technology

The drivetrain pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor. The combustion engine produces 130 kW/177 hp, while the electric motor is rated at 85 kW/115 hp. Combined system output is 200 kW/272 hp.

The battery has a net capacity of 19.7 kWh. Skoda also specifies DC fast charging at up to 50 kW, an important detail for a plug-in hybrid used regularly on electric power. The manufacturer has not yet released the official electric range for the new version.

The previous Kodiaq PHEV was rated to travel 100 km without using the combustion engine. The new version is expected to remain around that level, but Skoda has not confirmed a figure yet. Acceleration and top speed figures have also not been announced.

Markets, prices and availability

The new version is due to become orderable in Germany in autumn 2026. Skoda has not given an exact start date for orders. It has also not released the full price list for the stronger plug-in hybrid or for the Laurin & Klement trim.

Official prices are still pending, but after the power increase the starting point is expected to be around 50,000 euros. This remains an estimate rather than a confirmed catalogue price. No markets beyond Germany are mentioned, so availability elsewhere has not been specified.

Laurin & Klement adds a set of design and comfort items to the Kodiaq. The equipment includes seats with a massage function, special alloy wheels and additional body details. The trim line is not limited to the stronger plug-in hybrid, as it can be paired with different powertrains.

  • seats with a massage function,
  • special alloy wheels,
  • silver roof rails,
  • body-coloured bumpers,
  • body-coloured side skirts,
  • wheels available only for this equipment version.

Verdict

The stronger Kodiaq plug-in hybrid brings a substantial power increase to the range while retaining the basic formula of a family SUV capable of electric driving. The key missing items are the official electric range, final pricing and the precise order opening date.
