What's new

The Zeekr 7GT debuts at the Brussels Motor Show as an electric estate and the fifth model line in the brand's European range. The marque belongs to China's Geely group, alongside Volvo, Polestar and Lotus, and this car marks the next step in its European expansion. The five-door model is a little over 4.80 metres long and uses a body shaped with close attention to aerodynamics, a trait seen on many Chinese electric cars.

The headline feature is the combination of a wagon body with an 800-volt electrical architecture, which enables very high charging power when a suitable charging station is available. In its strongest form the car produces 646 hp, while the rear-wheel-drive version delivers 422 hp. Zeekr also puts range at the centre of the 7GT's positioning, because the rear-drive version with the larger battery is rated at up to 655 kilometres.

Specifications and technology

Two drive configurations are offered. The RWD model develops 310 kW, or 422 hp, and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds. The all-wheel-drive version produces 475 kW, or 646 hp, and completes the same sprint around two seconds quicker, while top speed is electronically limited to 210 km/h in both cases.

  • Rear-wheel drive RWD: 310 kW/422 hp, 0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds.
  • All-wheel drive: 475 kW/646 hp, about two seconds quicker to 100 km/h.
  • Top speed for both versions: 210 km/h.

The rear-wheel-drive 7GT can be ordered with 75 kWh or 100 kWh batteries. The smaller battery allows a range of 519 kilometres, while the larger pack raises that figure to 655 kilometres. The all-wheel-drive model comes only with the 100 kWh battery, for which Zeekr quotes a range of up to 558 kilometres.

The 800-volt system allows DC fast-charging power of up to 480 kW. Charging from 10 to 80 percent is said to take around 15 minutes, provided the car is connected to a charging point capable of delivering the required output. On alternating current, the estate charges at up to 22 kW, which is relevant for wallboxes and public AC chargers.

Inside, the design and material impression visibly follow cues from Volvo and Polestar within the same group. The driver's display behind the steering wheel is comparatively small, while the 16-inch central touchscreen dominates the dashboard. A head-up display is also fitted and turns the windscreen into an augmented-reality display measuring up to 35 inches.

The wheelbase measures 2.90 metres, so the rear seats offer decent space. The conventionally expandable boot holds 456 litres, which is rather compact for a car in this body style. There is also a front storage compartment with 65 litres in the rear-drive version and 32 litres in the all-wheel-drive model.

Markets, prices and availability

The Zeekr 7GT is being presented at the Brussels Motor Show, where the brand also communicated prices that are expected to apply to Germany with only slight deviations. No exact sales start date or delivery timetable was stated. The available information does not name further individual markets beyond the reference to European expansion and prices relevant to Germany.

Pricing starts at around 46,000 euros. The larger battery costs an additional 5,000 euros, while the extensively equipped all-wheel-drive Launch Edition is priced at 57,500 euros. The offer shown in Brussels therefore covers the base rear-drive version, the rear-drive model with the larger battery and the all-wheel-drive Launch Edition.

  • Base price: around 46,000 euros.
  • Surcharge for the 100 kWh battery in the RWD version: 5,000 euros.
  • All-wheel-drive Launch Edition: 57,500 euros.

Verdict

The Zeekr 7GT combines an estate body with up to 646 hp, a range of up to 655 kilometres and DC charging at up to 480 kW. Its strongest arguments are the figures themselves: the 800-volt architecture, the roughly 15-minute 10-80 percent charging time and a starting price of about 46,000 euros.
