What's new
The Toyota GR Yaris MORIZO RR will go on sale in spring 2026 as a limited special version shaped by experience from the Nürburgring 24 Hours. Its name refers to Morizo and Rookie Racing, and the car follows Morizo’s outing in GR Yaris number 109. In the most recent 24-hour race, Morizo completed 15 laps of the demanding circuit and praised the eight-speed GAZOO Racing Direct transmission.
The MORIZO RR version is intended to respond more sharply to driver inputs, deliver greater confidence and create a more direct connection behind the wheel. Toyota has linked track-derived findings with changes designed for a road-going GR Yaris. The result is a version whose character is tied closely to Morizo’s feedback and to the work of TGRR.
The most visible body change is the carbon-fibre rear spoiler reserved for this version. It increases aerodynamic downforce, and its development used data gathered by TGRR during the Nürburgring 24 Hours. The car also receives a front spoiler, side sill extensions and a bonnet made from carbon fibre.
- carbon-fibre rear spoiler developed using data from the Nürburgring 24 Hours,
- front spoiler and side sill extensions,
- carbon-fibre bonnet,
- Gravel Khaki paint chosen as Morizo’s favourite colour,
- Matte Bronze alloy wheels,
- yellow brake calipers and yellow stitching in the cabin.
Specifications and technology
The key mechanical change is a new 4WD drive mode developed together with Morizo. In this setting, power and torque distribution between the front and rear axles is 50:50. The mode is named “MORIZO” and replaces the “GRAVEL” mode known from the standard GR Yaris.
The engineers adjusted the suspension settings to make best use of the extra downforce generated by the rear spoiler. The aim was to maintain the strongest possible tyre contact even on uneven surfaces such as the Nürburgring. The electric power steering was also retuned so that the car’s responses matched the targets set for this limited version.
Inside, the steering wheel is trimmed in suede and has a slightly smaller diameter than the wheel in the standard GR Yaris. The shift paddles have been modified, and additional buttons make it easier to operate selected functions during sporty driving. The layout of these controls was developed from experience with the GR Yaris Rally2 rally car.
Every car carries a serial-number plaque and the MORIZO RR logo in the cabin. Toyota has not stated the power output, torque figure, performance data or price for this version. It has confirmed the use of the eight-speed GAZOO Racing Direct transmission, the gearbox Morizo praised after completing 15 laps in the 24-hour event.
Markets, prices and availability
Production will be strictly limited to a total of 200 cars. Half of the allocation will go to selected European markets, while the other half is reserved for Japan. That allocation makes the MORIZO RR one of the most restricted GR Yaris versions described in the announcement.
- 100 cars will be offered in selected European markets,
- 100 cars are allocated to Japan,
- sales are planned to start in spring 2026.
The body is finished in Gravel Khaki, described as Morizo’s favourite paint colour. The piano-black grille visually lowers the front of the car, while Matte Bronze alloy wheels complete the exterior specification. Yellow details appear on the brake calipers and in the cabin stitching, linking the visual treatment to the Morizo theme.
The availability information confirms the sales window, the markets and the production volume, but it does not include pricing, a country-by-country European allocation or detailed trim levels. No rivals are named. The confirmed commercial points are the 100-car European allocation, the 100-car Japanese allocation and the planned spring 2026 sales start.
Verdict
The Toyota GR Yaris MORIZO RR is a focused development of the hot hatch, centred on steering response, the 4WD setup and aerodynamic work tied to the Nürburgring 24 Hours. The main facts are the 200-car production run, the MORIZO 50:50 drive mode and the carbon-fibre body elements. It presents a clearly defined interpretation of the GR Yaris based on TGRR’s circuit experience and Morizo’s feedback.
