What's new
The Bentley Torcal will be the brand's first electric model, and technically it uses the Porsche Cayenne Electric as its base. A prototype ride in Monterey, California confirmed the shared hardware, including the same wheelbase, battery and 800-volt electrical architecture. Bentley is trying to separate the car through tuning, cabin execution and presentation rather than through a clean-sheet platform.
Two launch versions are planned, the standard Torcal and the Torcal S. Both use all-wheel drive and dual electric motors from the Volkswagen Group catalogue. Bentley says peak output with launch control will reach at least 838 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque.

The interior also makes the Porsche connection clear. The curved central touchscreen is taken straight from the Cayenne Electric, and there is no passenger-side display. Bentley's familiar organ-stop climate plungers have disappeared, replaced by touchscreen actuators.
Specifications and technology
The main figures show how closely the Torcal tracks the electric Cayenne. The wheelbase is 119.0 inches, the lithium-ion battery has 108 kWh of capacity, and the 800-volt system allows DC fast charging at up to 390 kW. EPA range is projected at more than 300 miles.

The chassis borrows Porsche Active Ride suspension but drops some of Porsche's more theatrical dynamic functions. That includes the motorcycle-style body-leaning feature for cornering. Bentley says the target is Flying Spur comfort in a straight line with Continental GT composure through bends.
The generated soundtrack is a major part of the car's character brief. Engineers created a drumbeat-like audio profile intended to echo the firing order of Bentley's old 6.75-liter V-8. During the prototype ride it came across as a low-frequency rumble, pleasant enough but still clearly synthetic.
Cabin and controls
The cabin seats five, and rear captain's chairs will not be available at launch. The outboard rear seats do get power recline, heating and ventilation. A new rotary controller called the Curation Engine manages sound effects and ambient lighting from the center console.
A-pillar-mounted cameras feed a driver-monitoring and well-being system, although Bentley has not yet explained that system in detail. Missing data includes acceleration, top speed, a firm reveal date and the final Torcal price. Those gaps remain important because the model is being positioned below the Bentayga while sharing hardware with a less expensive Porsche.
Markets, prices and availability
First U.S. deliveries are expected early next year, with cars arriving as 2028 models. Pricing will sit below the current Bentayga, which opens at $230,150 for 2026. Bentley has not released the Torcal's own starting price.
The company frames the Torcal as a smaller, sportier alternative to the Bentayga. The logic is complicated by the fact that it shares its platform with the Porsche Cayenne Electric, a vehicle that costs dramatically less. The case for the Bentley will depend on interior craftsmanship, materials, tuning and brand value once the doors are closed.
Positioning
Bentley wants the model to reach buyers who would not normally consider the brand. The first serious test will come when journalists drive finished cars rather than ride in camouflaged prototypes on quiet California roads. Until then, the prototype points to a product defined by execution more than by separate hardware.
Verdict
The Torcal combines Porsche electric hardware with Bentley's own tuning, cabin materials and theatre. Its numbers are strong on paper, but the decisive question is whether that treatment justifies a six-figure premium over the related Cayenne Electric.
